At home with Dita

Posted in Home Sweet Home

Say what one want about Dita von Teese but she truly lives her glamourous vintage life to a tee. Glamour. Art Deco. Hollywood Regency. 50s retro. Oriental. And a bit of Kitsch thrown in for good measure.

Top Pictures: Dita’s bedroom, or boudoir rather, is a true Art Deco dream in silver grey shades with mirrored furniture and crystal chandeliers. Please note the adorable bunny slippers in the first picture – aren’t they cute? And might I also say that I truly am a fan of Dita’s fan (also found in the first picture, under the table) – very Art Deco indeed!

Bottom Left Picture: The green and black dining room! I adore green and black together (they’re the main colours in my own sitting room), although I must confess that I find Dita’s room a tad bit too dark. The Chinoiserie floral wallpaper is gorgeous and was designed especially for her, not that I was expecting anything less.

Bottom Right Picture: Ms Von Teese’s gorgeous teal coloured sitting room with her custom made velvet furniture – even the wallpaper is a velvet flocked one! This is also the room in which she keeps a large part of her taxidermy collection – yes, the dead animals – which I do not find very inspiring at all. I much more prefer faux fur.

Oh, and by the way – Dita Von Teese’s foremost shopping rule is: “If your grandmother would like it, I would like it!” Granny Chic it is then.
