Puffin Perfect Outfit

Lindybop Hillary Tea Dress (Plus Size) | Monki Pompom Beret | Fendi Kan I Bag | Evans Velour Hoodie (Plus Size) | Erstwilder Ollie the Brave Brooch | Emily Temple Cute Glitter Ballet Shoes

A puffin print dress! How awesomely adorable is that?! I knew the moment I saw it that I just had to create an outfit around it. A stylish retro lady with a Little Miss Quirky-twist. For those who prefer a more classic {if an outfit featuring a puffin print dress could ever be called that} retro/otome approach the velour hoodie can easily be replaced with a cute cardigan, but I’m sticking to ‘classic’ Little Miss Quirky-style and and going with the velour. As the weather is not warm enough yet {unless you’re lucky enough to live somewhere it’s summer in February} to allow for bare legs a pair of pretty tights will complete the look.

That I like cherries and cherry prints is no secret; I even have a Pinterest board on the subject. While pineapples has been fashions’ fruit of choice for some time cherries are now seeing a bit of a comeuppance as berry du jour.

Vintage & Cute

Sara is in Love with… | Style | Vogue Japan

Last week was super busy for me and now my writing inspiration seem to have gone on a summer holiday. So what should I write about, really? I usually go for what I find is cute, charming and/or chic – just like my tagline up in the header – and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? I came across a post at Sara is in Love with… the other day where she models the most perfect outfit I have ever seen! It is my ideal combination of a vintage-style dress with cute and kitschy accessories – all in bright colours. (Yes, it’s the one to the left above.) I adore 1940’s style fashion, as well as the kawaii and kitschy, but managing to mix these in an actual ensemble isn’t such an easy task. Honestly speaking I have only happened upon one outfit like this before and it was the Marc by Marc Jacobs one (the middle picture above), which I featured in the post: Brown is Cute.

Using Sara’s gorgeous coord as a guide I have made a {yet another} wishlist outfit:

Velour hoodie: Juicy Couture | Hair flower/fascinator: Soda Sweethearts (Etsy) | Necklace: Ruby Lane | Velour hoodie: Juicy Couture | Bag: Melie Bianco | Brooch: Erstwilder | Dress: Pinup Girl Clothing | Brooch: Cilea | Bag: Ruby Shoo | Shoes (both pairs): Melissa

I am a velour hoodie kind of girl – don’t get me wrong, I love wearing cardigans, but velour hoodies are sort of my trademark (and also something I collect… amongst other things), so it’s not very odd that I’ve chosen one (well, two) instead of the cardigan commonly paired with vintage style dresses.

Hair flowers/fascinators are also popular with vintage clothing or pinup couture as it’s also called – one of these head adornments is definetly on my wishlist, but I can’t seem to choose one, there are so many pretty and quirky options. Expect a post on these in the future. ^_^

The two bags are the only things above that already have made their way in to my wardrobe, although the dress is also something I’m lusting after… despite it being pink! It does come in both yellow and blue as well, but this time the pink is the prettiest I think. I have linked to the plus size dresses but if you have a look around in the webshop they also come in regular sizes.

And last, but definetly not least, the shoes! I love both pairs, but notwithstanding that I gravitate towards colour I have only dared go for a black (flocked) pair. The glittery ones are cute but I can’t help but to wonder if the glitter won’t come off, and the bows on the other pair seem a bit bulky and awkward albeit very darling.
